Independence & Scope

IN, operated by Athfluence Limited. Updated: 19 October 2026.

IN acts for the owner. This statement explains the scope of our automotive work, how we work alongside professional advisers and how our independence is maintained.

1. Our role

IN provides independent owner-side oversight of significant cars and collections. Our work includes establishing and maintaining specialist automotive information, coordinating appropriate specialists and supporting decisions within an agreed mandate.

Our commercial relationship is with the owner, principal or the person or entity authorised to act on their behalf. The scope of work, authority, reporting arrangements and fees are agreed with that client.

2. Legal, tax and financial advice

IN does not provide legal, tax, financial or investment advice. We do not draft legal instruments, determine a client's tax position or recommend financial products or investment strategies.

We work alongside the client's appointed lawyers, accountants, tax advisers, wealth managers and other professional advisers, providing specialist automotive information to support their work. Advice in those disciplines remains with the relevant appointed adviser.

References on this website to ownership, estates, succession, liquidity, tax, insurance or borrowing provide context for our automotive work. They are not personal advice or a recommendation to take a particular course of action.

3. Independence and third-party payments

IN is paid only by its client: the owner, or those acting on the owner's behalf. We receive no commission, referral fee, introduction fee, margin, payment or other benefit from dealers, salerooms, insurers, lenders, workshops, storage providers or other third parties involved in the collection.

Specialist involvement is considered according to the client's requirements and the agreed scope of work. Our independence is maintained whether we work with an existing provider or identify additional expertise.

Third-party services and costs remain separate and transparent. The owner contracts with the relevant specialist directly.

4. Acquisitions and disposals

IN does not trade cars or hold stock. When instructed, we may represent a client in the acquisition or disposal of a significant car or collection.

Our role and fee are agreed with the client in advance. We receive no payment from the counterparty. Decisions and approvals remain with the client or their authorised representative.

5. Borrowing against a collection

Where a client is considering or has arranged borrowing, IN's role is limited to specialist automotive documentation and oversight of the collection within the agreed scope.

IN does not introduce owners to lenders, recommend lenders or financial products, arrange finance, negotiate loan terms or advise on borrowing. The owner and their appointed advisers manage that relationship, and the lender makes its own assessment.

Information is supplied to a lender only where the owner instructs. IN receives no payment from the lender.

6. Valuations and supporting information

A valuation position is prepared for a stated purpose and date using available documentation, relevant market evidence and specialist input where required. Values can change, and different purposes may require different valuation bases.

A valuation is not a guarantee of a sale price, future value, lending decision or insurance settlement. Relevant advisers, lenders, insurers and other recipients make their own decisions about the information they require and accept.

7. Agreed instructions

This statement explains IN's role and independence. The particular services, fees and authority for an engagement are set out in the agreement with the client.

If there is uncertainty about whether a requirement falls within IN's role, we clarify the scope before undertaking the work. Enquiries can be made through our enquiry page.
